This can cause permanent damage and, if possible, the treatments should be carried out under supervision, preferably by a qualified dentist to protect the enamel.

If the teeth remain feeling sensitive a few days after the teeth whitening procedure, then the discomfort can be reduced by shortening the amount of time the gel applicators are worn.

These applicators that have been molded in the shape of the patient’s teeth are supposed to be worn for no more than an hour at a time. If the patient feels pain or sensitivity whilst wearing the mold or immediately after, they should immediately remove the mold and in future wear it for a short period of time each day.

Teeth whitening is a new innovation that if taken seriously and applied properly can bring immediate and obvious results. However, it is important to remember that a level of risk is involved, and whatever precautions that the manufacturers or your dentist recommends be strictly adhered to in order to minimise these teeth whitening risks.
